Questions About Family Counselling
Is this program covered by insurance?
Yes — we offer direct billing with most major Canadian insurance providers, including Sun Life, Manulife, Canada Life, and Pacific Blue Cross, the same as our other counselling services. It’s worth checking your specific plan, since coverage can sometimes depend on how sessions are billed or coded.
What happens after the three sessions end — can I continue if I want more support?
Absolutely. This program is built as a focused, three-session starting point, but plenty of people choose to continue with ongoing individual counselling afterward if there’s more they want to work through. Your therapist can help you figure out what makes sense next.
Is this just for me, or can my partner be involved too?
This program is designed as individual, one-on-one support, built around your own experience and emotions. If your partner is going through something similar and wants their own space, they’re welcome to book their own sessions — or if you’d rather work through it together, that’s what our couples counselling is designed for.
Do I need an official diagnosis or referral to join this program?
No. You don’t need a formal infertility diagnosis, a specific timeline of trying to conceive, or a doctor’s referral to book — this program is here for the emotional experience of the journey, whatever stage you’re at or however it’s been defined for you medically.
Do the three sessions need to happen close together, or can we go at whatever pace feels right?
You’re welcome to space them out however feels manageable — there’s no requirement to complete all three back-to-back on a strict weekly schedule. Just mention your preference when booking, or ask your therapist directly.
Should I do this virtually or in person?
Both cover the same three-session content, so it comes down to what helps you feel most comfortable opening up — some people prefer the ease of joining from home, others prefer the in-person connection at our Vancouver office. Either way, the program itself doesn’t change.
